The Story of Campussophisticate Flip Flops

The campus sophisticate beaded flip flop are made by a group of tribal women in a small town in Nigeria. A member of this group helped fix the sandals of a white American woman who was touring a street market in this Nigerian city with her husband. After fixing the broken sandals on the spot for free and handing it back to the woman with a big smile on her face, the white woman smiled back saying, "you should make sandals because you are so good at it." She gave the African woman a $20 tip, hugged her,
and said, "My name is Jill" as she hugged her and handed her a business card. I am "Osarene", she replied. In response, the American woman asked, "What does your name mean? She says, "It means God has arrived." The American woman replies, "What a beautiful name." The $20 she gave her is more than she could ever earn selling oranges on the street in two weeks. Several weeks later, Osarene went to a local internet café and asked for an assistant to take a picture of the flip flops she had made with beads. She emailed the image to the American woman with the email on the business card she gave her. In her massage with a picture of the flip flop, she wrote, "I made you sandals, I want to send them to you." The American woman loved the flip flop when she received it. But it was too small for her, so she gave it to her daughter. She sent an image of the flip to a friend at Campussophisticate. Her friend loved it and sent $300 dollars to Osarene in Edo city in Africa to make more, and the rest is history. Osarene is the one holding a child in the group picture. The women in the group photo made these flip flops 100% by hand. A sticker on the bottom of each flip flop shows the name of the woman who made it for a very special American. They love Americans who have enhanced their quality of life dramatically. Those without running water now have access to it. Those who were unable to afford medicine for their sick children can now do so.
